About
26 primitive cabins scattered through Burlingame State Campground near Watchaug Pond, Rhode Island's largest campground. A rustic, one-room primitive cabin with no water or electricity inside - furnished with two bunk beds (wooden slats only; bring your own mattress pad or air mattress, plus all your own bedding). Cooking isn't allowed inside the cabin. It sleeps up to 4, and one tent may be pitched at the site alongside it for a site total of up to 6 people. No RVs, campers, trailers, or pop-ups are allowed on cabin sites. Individual cabin numbers and whether any specific cabin is wheelchair accessible aren't published anywhere online - call the park to ask before booking if that matters for your trip. Flush restrooms and showers for the whole campground are a short walk away.
Fees
$50/night for Rhode Island residents, $75/night for non-residents - the same official statewide rate for these no-water/no-electric primitive cabins at both of the state's cabin parks. An $8.75 non-refundable reservation fee applies per booking, plus an $8.00/day vehicle pass ($12.00 for a second vehicle).
Burlingame's live 2026 booking calendar runs through October 11, with peak-season pricing starting June 12 - no earlier opening date is published anywhere, and this reflects this year's specific calendar rather than a stated fixed policy. Call the park at (401) 322-8910 or check reserveamerica.com to confirm next season's exact dates before planning an off-season trip. Rhode Island DEM has also stated that 2027 reservations are on hold statewide while it runs an RFP for a new reservation-services provider, which could affect how these cabins are booked beyond 2026.
