About

Ten yurts on Peddocks Island, reachable only by ferry or private boat from the Hingham Shipyard - there's no vehicle access to the island. Each yurt is a large, canvas-sided structure with a picnic table and grill outside; campfires aren't allowed at the sites but are permitted below the high-tide line. None of the ten yurts have electricity, and there are no showers - only composting toilets - though Peddocks Island does have fresh drinking water (campers on the park's other islands need to bring their own, a gallon per person per day). None of the ten yurts are wheelchair accessible. Resident park staff live on the island during the camping season. Pets aren't allowed in Massachusetts DCR yurts or cabins statewide, even at parks where regular campsites allow pets.

Fees

$55/night for Massachusetts residents, $140/night for non-residents - notably higher than this park's tent sites ($8/$20) and unusual among Massachusetts DCR's yurts, most of which cost the same as a standard campsite. A $4.50 non-refundable reservation fee applies per booking, per Massachusetts DCR's statewide camping reservation policy.

The island campground's live 2026 booking calendar runs mid-June through mid-October (with a brief gap in early September). Boston Harbor Islands' ferry service is seasonal, so there's no winter access to Peddocks Island for camping.
