This is a fairly remote trailhead, located just off the Gros Ventre Road near Crystal Creek where the road turns to native material. The trailhead is accessed from road #30380, which is open to all motor vehicles from 06/01-11/30, and is in an open sagebrush meadow with great 360 degree views of the Red Hills and the Gros Ventre Range. This trailhead is the main access point for the roughly 11 mile Slate Cr Loop # 4215, which is open to wheeled vehicles 50” or less from 07/01-11/30. No facilities are located on site, although dispersed camping is available nearby. Single kiosk with a map. Trailhead is large enough for trailer turnaround. No cellular service.

About this trail's facts
The lines are the US Forest Service's National Forest System trails layer (public domain), read 2026-10-16 and simplified for the map; the length is the line's, end to end, and the class, surface, grade and tread width are the forest's own entries where it publishes them - a forest that publishes the centreline alone has none. The trailheads and the points along the way are the Service's recreation points, and the write-ups its own recarea text, unedited. Heights come from USGS 3DEP through Terrain Tiles on AWS (Mapzen/Tilezen), read along each line and rounded; a short trail on steep ground can be off by a few tens of feet. Closures change: check the forest's own site before you go.
