About

Three cabins on Burton Island, a Lake Champlain island reachable only by the state's passenger ferry or a private boat - there's no drive-in access of any kind. A cozy one-room cabin furnished with bunk beds and a futon or sleeper couch (bring your own linens, blankets, pillows, and towels), a table and two chairs, an overhead light, and an electric outlet, a covered front porch, a picnic table, and a fire ring with a cooking grate. There's no kitchen or bathroom inside - cooking is done outside (bring your own cookware), and restrooms and showers are a short walk away. All three cabins (Popasquash, Savage, and Sunset) are wheelchair accessible and pet-friendly.

Fees

$73/night for Vermont residents, $85/night for non-residents, plus $8/person/night beyond the base occupancy (6 people max per site). No cleaning deposit is required for cabins. Pets allowed on a leash cost $3/pet/night, same as Vermont's campsites. Burton Island's resident rate runs higher than every other Vermont state park cabin ($73 vs $60), though the non-resident rate matches.

The 2026 season runs May 22 - September 6, notably shorter than most other Vermont cabin parks - it tracks the island's seasonal ferry service, with no way to reach the island once the ferry stops running for the year.
