About

The Rustic Studio Cabin at Big Ridge State Park is a standalone cabin rental. It's one of 20 one-room rustic cabins built in 1936 by the Civilian Conservation Corps, retaining the charm and design of that time - 5 sit on the lakeside and 15 sit on the ridge above Norris Lake. Most have 2 double beds and a sofa sleeper in a combined living/sleeping area; Cabin 2 is the only one with a separate bedroom. Daily housekeeping isn't available, and parking near the cabins is limited, with stairs required at most. It has a full kitchen and a private bathroom. It sleeps up to 6 people. Pets are only allowed in Cabins 6 and 13 ($20 per pet/night). The park's own website lists it as open April 1 through October 31.

The park's own website states these cabins are normally open April 1 through October 31; in the off-season, only Cabins 1, 4, and 15 through 19 (Cabin 19 is pet-friendly) are typically available. As of August 2026, the park's website also states all cabins are closed for renovations, expected to reopen in late fall 2026 - call ahead to confirm current status before planning a trip.
