Cowans Gap has 10 historic rustic cabins, built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, each sleeping 4 across three small rooms with two sets of single bunk beds. They have an indoor fireplace, refrigerator, stove, microwave, and ceiling fan, but no indoor plumbing - there's an outside water faucet and a central restroom with showers and flush toilets nearby. Wheelchair accessible. Up to two dogs are allowed in designated cabins for a fee.
Closed for the winter season - no indoor plumbing or electric heat.
