About

Idaho City Backcountry Yurts is a set of seven separately-located, Mongolian-style yurts in the mountains of the Boise National Forest, roughly 56-63 miles (about 1.5 hours) north of Boise - Petersen, Banner Ridge, Elkhorn, Skyline, Hennessy, Rocky Ridge, and Stargaze. Each sleeps up to six on one futon and two bunk beds, with solar-powered lighting, a propane cook stove, a wood stove (firewood provided), basic kitchenware, a dining table and chairs, an outdoor fire pit, and a pit toilet - no running water, so bring your own. Pets are allowed (up to two) at every yurt. Open year-round, though reaching them between Nov. 15 and April 30 requires a Park N' Ski winter-trail pass. Since these are seven separate backcountry locations reached by different trailheads rather than one cluster, the map point shown here is just one of the seven (Banner Ridge) as a representative location, not every yurt's own spot.

Fees

Idaho City Backcountry Yurts run up to $115/night for residents, $150/night for non-residents, plus a $10 non-refundable reservation fee.

Open year-round, but reaching the yurts between Nov. 15 and April 30 requires a Park N' Ski winter-trail pass, per this park's own page - a real, seasonal access detail, not a closure.
